About

Rossville Middle School is a 6th-8th grade school located just across the Georgia line in Northwest Georgia. RMS prides itself in serving the community of Rossville by meeting the various needs of the middle school learner as they transition from elementary to high school. Along with teaching a rigorous curriculum provided by the state, RMS offers differentiated instructional strategies and makes real world connections to those standards. RMS strives to teach the critical life lessons associated with being respectful, being responsible, and being safe. We believe in meeting students where they are academically and socially and then we strive to challenge each student to get better every single day.

Our Extended Learning Time (ELT) classes provide additional instructional time in foundational skills for reading and math. ELT classes also provide additional time for extended lessons in science and social studies. RMS is a Title I school that uses federal funds to hire additional teachers in order to reduce class sizes, purchase updated technology for use in our core academic classrooms, and provide professional learning opportunities for our teachers.

At RMS we believe that a positive work ethic and respectful behaviors are an essential part of challenging our students to be their best. The RMS Renaissance Program and the PBIS Teams develop a system of rewards and field trips that keep students focused and excited about meeting high expectations throughout the school year. This year’s Renaissance theme is Mission: Possible… “If I believe in myself, anything is possible.”

Along with the academic lessons taught each day, opportunities for students to participate in band, chorus, technology, lego robotics, agriculture, computer science and physical education are also available. Our Athletic Teams, Reading Bowl Team, Academic Bowl Team, FFA Team, 4-H Team, Soap Box Derby Team and Math Teams learn the value of teamwork and compete against other schools regularly. At Rossville Middle School we believe that every single student deserves to be treated with respect every single day… and that every single student can graduate and make our community better.
